PRAYER FOR PARENTS

Momma had this clipping out of a newspaper always hung up over the sink or on a cabinet. Anyway, after she died I made sure to grab it before it was accidentally thrown away or something. I have it above my sink now. You know when you have those times that you wished you could start all over again parenting and be more consistent or more loving or more fun or more whatever!! I try to read this and remember it when I get frustrated or lose my patience but obviously that doesn't always happen. I just wanted to share. I know Donna Gail lost her patience at times too but hey I turned out okay I think!! No comment from anyone!!! Here is what it says:

O God make me a better parent. Help me to understand my children, to listen patiently to what they have to say and to respond to their questions kindly. Keep me from interrupting and contradicting them. Make me as courteous to them as I would have them be to me. Give me the courage to confess my sins against my children and ask them for forgiveness when I know I have done wrong.
May I not vainly hurt the feelings of my children. Forbid that I should laugh at their mistakes, or resort to shame and ridicule as punishment.
Reduce the meanness in me. May I cease to nag; and when I am out of sorts, help me, O Lord, to hold my tongue. Blind me to the little errors of my children and help me to see the good things they do. Give me a ready word for praise.
Help me treat my children as those of their own age. Let me not expect from them the judgment of adults. Allow me not to rob them of the opportunity to wait upon themselves, to think, to choose, and to make their own decisions.
Forbid that I should ever punish them for my selfish satisfaction. May I grant them all their wishes that are reasonable and have the courage always to withhold a privilege which I know will do them harm.
Make me fair and just, considerate and companionable, so they will have genuine esteem for me. Fit me to be loved and imitated by my children. O God, do give me calm and poise and
self-control.

Yea Wendy is B-A-C-K!!!! I love all your posts and pictures, but I really love the sweet reminder of your momma, sweet Donna. I can still vividly remember her laugh and how she would just get such a big kick out of you guys. Such a sweet lady and I know you miss her so much. But, you got so many of her qualities so her spirit lives on...in your blog too!!!:) I

I look at all those pictures of the kids and cannot believe you and Julie popped all those babies out...Julie absolutely ROCKS!!! I don't know if I'm more impressed with her having all the babies or having all the you-know-what in order to get pregnant...know what I mean!

Looks like you guys had a great time and I know the cousins had a ball and made some great memories!

Love, love, love the last few posts. The prayer makes me want to cry because it was your Momma's. It is really good and I sure needed that yesterday. Audrie was not my favorite person and I should have read it!!!! Love the pictures of all the cousins. Looks like you had such a fun time. Hugs and Kisses!
